Abilities & Skills

I freelance, focusing mainly on web design and graphics. I would describe myself as an enthusiastic and professional person who enjoys being part of, as well as leading, a successful and productive team. New ideas and concepts are quickly grasped and innovative and creative solutions to problems developed. I have demonstrated the high level of motivation required to meet tight deadlines and work very well on my own initiative. Even under significant pressure, I possess a strong ability to perform effectively.

Since finishing college I have worked as a professional within the design industry. This has allowed me to garner a great deal of experience in the design and printing process. I have further developed my interpersonal skills through interaction with clients, creating visually what they would like to express about a product, service or event.

My computer skills span from Microsoft Office proficiency (ECDL) to working with the complete Adobe CS4 package. Software I use includes Photoshop, Dream Weaver, Illustrator, Flash, Quark Express 8, Director, Indesign, 3D Max, Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools.

For my Honours Degree in 2008 my project group and I studied and produced a new and emergent multimedia genre known as ‘Alternate Reality Gaming’. This is a game structured around an interactive narrative that uses multiple media and gaming elements to engage players, encourage collaboration and tell a story. We created a game called ‘Aftermath 08’ which ran for a five week period through April and May 2008 attracting players from as far afield as Sweden, Australia, Canada and the United States. (Throughout the duration of the game players were sucked into a story about the mysterious disappearance of various employees of the fictional Dundalk-based company, Identicryption. Players worked their way through secret websites and coded messages in the search for the truth about the disappearance of the employees. Before long they were unravelling a trail of identity theft, fraud, lies and murder.) After our study we submitted a paper on Alternate Reality Games to Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts (ISEA) and were asked to speak at their annual conference in 2009.

I have a keen interest in technology and gadgets having worked part time throughout college in PC World and Three (mobile communications store). Working closely with mobile communications I decided to focus my dissertation on 3G technology, looking at how it began, how we use it and where it will take us.

19 years of Speech and Drama training has given me the confidence to utilise my voice and body in an assertive and interesting way allowing me to communicate in a clear, articulate and assertive manner with clients.
